Enabling Non-English Languages in DocView

The default language for the UnixWare documentation is English. Additional languages are supported by doing the following:

  1. Install the appropriate language extension package by inserting CD 1 or CD 2 from the Media Kit into the primary CD drive and entering:
       pkgadd -d cdrom1 package

where package is one of the following:

    dele German Lanaguage Extension
    esle Spanish Lanaguage Extension
    frle French Lanaguage Extension
    jale Japanese Lanaguage Extension
    kole Korean Lanaguage Extension

  2. Install the appropriate language extension package by inserting CD 1 or CD 2 from the Media Kit into the primary CD drive and entering:
       pkgadd -d cdrom1 package

where package is one of the following:

    debasedoc German Base System Guides
delkpdoc German Linux Kernel Personality (LKP) Documentation
    esbasedoc Spanish Base System Guides
eslkpdoc Spanish Linux Kernel Personality (LKP) Documentation

jalkpdoc Japanese Linux Kernel Personality (LKP) Documentation
kobasedoc Korean Base System Guides (New Features and Notes only)
kolkpdoc Korean Linux Kernel Personality (LKP) Documentation

You can also specify the LocalDoc set for package to choose multiple documentation packages from a menu.

  3. Restart DocView:
       /etc/docview restart

  4. Set your browser's language preferences to include a non-English language by adding the language to the language list. To do this in Mozilla or Netscape, open the browser and select the Edit > Preference command. Then select Languages, and add the appropriate language to the list displayed. Make sure that English is either not present in the list or is below the preferred language in the list.

Once you have done the above, point your browser at localhost:8458 and you should see the foreign language documentation.

Please note that not all documentation on the system is translated in to supported languages, and the documentation server defaults to English when the currently selected or preferred language is not installed for the document being viewed.
