The Intel Advanced Programmable Interrupt Controller (APIC) architecture provides multiple programmable interrupt controllers on multiprocessor platforms. Drivers written for SVR5 systems can use this architecture without any special coding.
On SCO OpenServer 5 systems, APIC is supported only for multiprocessor systems because it is based on the GPI implementation.
