Terminology for graphics driver writers

GC (graphical context)

The Graphics Context (GC) is the foundation for graphics on the X server. The GC is a data structure that defines the drawing operation parameters (for example, foreground color, line width and type of fill and so on). When a client asks the X server to draw something, it includes a reference to a graphics context that specifies the overall parameters.
