Managing Hot Plugable controllers

Failing over a NIC

This is the recommended procedure for replacing a NIC.

To fail over to a backup NIC:

  1. Add a new NIC to an empty slot. See ``Adding a NIC''.

  2. If you have not already done so, use the Network Configuration Manager to configure the new NIC as a backup device. See ``Configuring a backup device''.

  3. Force the primary (old) NIC to fail over to the backup NIC. See ``Configuring a backup device''.

  4. Remove the old NIC. See ``Removing a controller or NIC''.
