Changing device configurations so the mouse will work

To change device configurations so there is no conflict between the mouse device and other configured devices with regard to IRQ values and I/O port address range values, use the following procedure.

1. Execute the following command:

      /sbin/dcu
   

2. Navigate to the Hardware Devices Configuration screen and look for a board entry that has an identical IRQ value to the listing for the mouse device (``Bus mouse'' will be listed for the supported devices, Microsoft bus mouse or Logitech bus mouse. Serial and PS2/Keyboard mouse devices will not be listed on this screen, and you will have to refer to the hardware manual to get their IRQ and I/O port address range values).

   Also check for another entry with an I/O port address range that is identical to or overlaps the I/O port address range of your mouse device.

3. If there is another entry with the identical IRQ value to that of your mouse device, change the field for your mouse device on the Hardware Devices Configuration screen to a different value (choices are 2, 3, 4, and 5).

4. If there is another entry with an identical or overlapping I/O address range, remove or reconfigure the conflicting device. (You cannot change the I/O address range of the mouse device.)

5. Navigate to the name of the conflicting board on the Hardware Devices Configuration screen and press <F6>.

   This displays the Extended Information screen, which lists alternative I/O address ranges, if any, that you can assign to the entry that is in conflict with your mouse device. (If there is no alternative, remove the conflicting device to use the mouse.)

6. Return to the Main Menu and select Apply Configuration Changes & Exit DCU.

7. Re-execute mouseadmin and select

      T) Test your mouse configuration
   

   to validate that the mouse is configured correctly.
