Mouse administration

Removing a mouse device

The procedure given here for removing a mouse device cannot be done from the Desktop; that is, you cannot run the mouseadmin command from a terminal window when you want to remove a mouse. If you try, the mouse will be reported as busy, and you will not be permitted to proceed. You must log in as root in a console terminal.

To remove a mouse device, use the following procedure:

  1. Log in as root.

  2. At the system prompt, type mouseadmin.

  3. Select ``R'' for Remove a mouse from the menu.

  4. A table listing the mouse assignments is displayed. The following message is displayed after the table:
Enter the display terminal from which the mouse will be removed,
or strike the ENTER key to return to the main menu.

    Display terminal:

At the prompt, enter the display terminal of the mouse you want to remove.

  5. To cancel the changes you have entered so far, type ``E'' for Exit. The mouse configuration will be unchanged, and you will then exit from the mouseadmin program.
