The DMI to SNMP mapper for UnixWare 7.

The DMI to SNMP mapper for UnixWare 7.

Desktop Management Interface (DMI) and Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP) are both widely deployed management technologies. Although they are similar in concept and functionality, they are not inherently interoperable. Making the two protocols interoperable greatly enhances enterprise management solutions.

To this end the Desktop Management Task Force (DMTF) developed the DMI to SNMP mapping standard (DMTF DMI to SNMP Mapping Standard Version 1.0) Ref XXX. This document describes UnixWare's implementation of the standard, the ``DMI to SNMP Mapper''. The ``Mapper'' gives SNMP-based management applications access to those system attributes instrumented by DMI. The instrumentation may use either standard or non-standard DMI groups.

This documentation assumes that you are familiar with DMI, SNMP and SCO's implementations of these technologies.
