The Intranet Management System

Installing IMS

In order to use the system, the ``ims'' package must have been installed along with the UnixWare system. Note that installation of this package is not automatic: you can change the setting that affects this using the package installation menus, which allow software to be selected or deselected as required. For a list of the software package dependencies relating to IMS, see ``IMS package dependencies''.

If UnixWare has already been installed, along with the packages on which IMS depends, you can add the ``ims'' package using the pkgadd(1M) utility, or the Desktop App_Installer, accessible from the Admin_tools folder.

IMS package dependencies

Before installing ``ims'', the SNMP software must be present. This is contained within the ``netmgt'' package, which is added to the system by default during UnixWare installation. Note that ``netmgt'' itself has a dependence on the Internet Utilities (``inet'') package.
